Eklo: ecology is at the heart of our approach

Right from the birth of the project, we pictured the Eklo hotels as an innovative concept, and the success we have enjoyed proves that we meet the expectations of today's travellers. That’s because our ecological hotels are rooted in the local environment, while being hybrid, design-oriented, accessible to all and having loads of personality... Here’s an overview of our commitments and our approach.

Ecology at every stage

Reducing our environmental footprint is, for us, a way of doing our part in a collective effort. We started with the design of our buildings, their location, their orientation, and the materials used – five of our 7 establishments are of wood construction. Then, we optimised the insulation, lighting, and heating, all the while favouring sustainable eco-materials.

And every day

In addition to ensuring energy and water saving in all Eklo hotels, our eco-friendly approach is practiced on a day-by-day basis. We have chosen organic and non-polluting products for maintenance and cleaning, and we offer linen changes only by request to limit the impact of dealing with laundry. We don’t provide hospitality products, but we do offer 100% organic hygiene products available in refillable format in the rooms. Waste sorting bins are present in the common areas and a shared kitchen allows everyone to do their own cooking. Due to our urban vegetable garden, beehives, short supply chains for our restaurants, and our membership of the Too Good To Go association which ensures that our unsold food surplus is used, we are convinced that every eco-action we take is a step in the right direction.

At Eklo, ecology is a commitment at all levels, from the choice of locations for our hotels to their development and management, including their construction. This explains why our establishment in Bordeaux has been recognised as the 5th greenest hotel in France.
